Bloopers - 2012 Compilation

The year is over and now it's time to sit back and laugh at my many screw-ups from throughout the year. I'm so looking forward to this new year and filming many more bloopers. Thanks for laughing with me, my friends.

The 1,000 Subscriber YouTube Milestone!!!!

I have been wanting to write a blog post for some time now. I've simply been having a problem coming up with something to talk about. I normally at least put my videos on here, but I haven't even wanted to do that. Today was no different. I sat down with the intent to write a blog post-- a simple, "Hey! I'm still here!", but there was nothing. Instead I found myself watching How-To videos on playing the violin. Do I play the violin? No lol. I don't even own one, but someday I wish too. So instead of writing you all, as I had planned, I chose to dream instead. Shouldn't come as too much of a surprise. You should know by now that I am a full-time daydreamer ;P
Anyway, back on point. Despite my distraction, something very unexpected and remarkable happened. I hit 1,000 SUBSCRIBERS!!!! Holy shit! I can't believe it! I sorta want to cry, I am so happy. I feel like music should be playing, confetti falling, and champagne bottles popping open.
I did not expect this to hit me so hard. I've known that 1,000 was around the bend for sometime. I've been creeping up on it rather slowly for the last few days. 46 minutes ago I announced that I had hit 999 and did not expect to hit the big four digits for a few days. Then, like I simply tripped, I stumbled passed 1,000 and hit 1,001. ALL while I was watching violin lessons on YouTube. If my hair was done, I'd make a video about this moment. Then again, I'd probably cry through the whole thing lol.
After writing the above text, my friend Bunny Cates congratulated me on Twitter (@Lindsay_Mead) for this achievement. This, for some reason, was my catalyst. The flood gates opened and I became a river of happy tears lol. I texted my little sister and we spread cheer back and forth that way. I would have called my mom, if I wasn't certain she was in bed. A volley of wonderful tweets and comments came my way from loads of awesome people who were all too happy to congratulate me-- and harass me for taking so long to get here lol.
I wasn't able to finish this blog post last night because Bunny pulled me into a chat with K.C. Hilton and EmmaHeartsBooks, where we talked and played some online pool. Side note: I'm decent at real pool, but god awful at simulated pool lol. It's like my friends just knew I needed to do a little celebrating, even if it was just chatting on G+. Plus, being YouTubers, they also understand what a big thing this is.
This is really one of the best ways for me to finish my year. 2012 was suppose to be my year. A lot was suppose to change for me. And a lot has, but not everything that I had expected and somethings changed in ways that were harder than I wanted. Hitting 1,000 subscribers was not something that I set out to do at the beginning of this year, but it has turned into one of the accomplishments that I am most proud of. In fact, it's not just my biggest accomplishment of this year-- it's my biggest accomplishment of the last few years now. It's a sad thing to say, and admit to people other than myself. But I can also say that this achievement has changed my outlook on my life significantly. Is there a lot that I still need to change and do in my life? Absolutely. So much that it's easy to feel overwhelmed and defeated. Then I remember that I hit 1,000 subscribers. That's something that not a lot of people can boast. Suddenly, the mountains that I have to climb don't look as high as they did two days ago. Everything seems possible to me. I think I'm going to write "1,000 SUBSCRIBERS!" on my wall to remind me of what I am capable of.
Before I end this post, I want to take a second to thank all of you for subscribing to me and for supporting me in all of my endeavors. Sometimes people ask me why I saying things like "We did it!" or "We're almost at 1,000!" They want to know why I say "we". The answer is easy, because it doesn't feel like it's just me. You're all in this with me. I couldn't gain new subscribers if you guys didn't share my videos and channel. Yes, you're my audience, but you're also my support, my friends, and my team. I couldn't do this without you guys. So thank you. Ok, now lets go for 10,000 ;P 5-digits baby!

Live BOOK HAUL - 40 Books!

I hosted a live Book Haul yesterday on my channel. I featured a whopping 40 books. Normally I would have split that up into about 4 videos, but I thought we'd try something new. It went very well, I think. Everyone seemed to be having a good time and I did my best to read and reply to the comments that were coming in. The whole video is NOT the book haul. I start the book haul right away, but once I finished the books, I stuck around for a while to chat with some friends. If you make it that far into the video, I think you'll be delighted by our silliness. Let me know if you guys like this sort of thing and maybe I'll do another live Book Haul in the future. That is, if I have such a large pile of new books to share :)

Midnight Cover Reveal - Fireblood by Trisha Wolfe

To save a kingdom, Zara must choose between a prince who could be the answer and a rising rebellion that threatens to take control.

When Zara Dane is chosen to marry Prince Sebastian Hart, son of the man who ordered her father’s capture, Zara knows she must fight to save everything she loves from ruin.

Being betrothed to the prince means a life trapped behind the towering stone walls of the Camelot-forged realm. Under the watchful eye of the prince's first knight, Sir Devlan Capra, changing her future becomes difficult.

When an unlikely rebel reveals the truth about the deadly secrets that fuel King Hart’s twisted world, Zara’s path to rescue her father becomes clouded by deception. The Rebels clear her path by forcing Zara’s hand with an ultimatum: sway Prince Sebastian to join the Rebels, convincing him of his father’s evil nature, or they will take him out.

But Zara is uncertain about a future under the Rebels’ command and where the prince’s heart truly lies. She must decide who to trust, what to believe, and what she’s truly fighting for before the king destroys all of Karm, including her heart.

THE DAWN OF SKY by Lindsay Mead + BOOK TRAILER!

SYNOPSIS: Far into the future, the world is different. The climate changes and North America is a jungle. Thousands of years of evolution make everything stronger, faster, bigger, and deadlier. The Human population dwindles to only a few known tribes. At the bottom of the food chain, their extinction is near.

Sky lives alone with her father and hasn't seen another human in four Rain Seasons. Danger lurks in every shadow, but hunger drives them far from the safety of their nest to hunt. Though life is never certain or secure in the jungle, on this night Sky will have to fight like never before.

WHAT IS THIS FOR? This short story has been entered into a contest for a chance to win a spot in the Defy The Dark Anthology. The contest ends September 1st. The story is based on another book that I am currently working on, and hope to someday (soon) publish. I would greatly appreciate anyone who takes the time to read the short story and leave their feedback. The contest is not dependent on "likes" or anything of that nature, but it would still mean a lot to me.

While other girls sew dresses, host dinner parties, and obey their male Protectors, Rachel knows how to survive in the wilderness and deftly wield a sword. When her father, Jared, fails to return from a courier mission and is declared dead, the Commander assigns Rachel a new Protector, her father’s apprentice, Logan—the same boy Rachel declared her love for two years ago, and the same boy who handed her heart right back to her. Left with nothing but fierce belief in her father’s survival, Rachel decides to escape and find him herself. But treason against the Commander carries a heavy price, and what awaits her in the Wasteland could destroy her.

At nineteen, Logan McEntire is many things. Orphan. Outcast. Inventor. As apprentice to the city’s top courier, Logan is focused on learning his trade so he can escape the tyranny of Baalboden. But his plan never included being responsible for his mentor’s impulsive daughter. Logan is determined to protect her, but when his escape plan goes wrong and Rachel pays the price, he realizes he has more at stake than disappointing Jared.

As Rachel and Logan battle their way through the Wasteland, stalked by a monster that can’t be killed and an army of assassins out for blood, they discover romance, heartbreak, and a truth that will incite a war decades in the making.

Shatter Me Giveaway (CLOSED)

Shatter Me (Shatter Me, #1)
Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Juliette hasn't touched anyone in exactly 264 days.

The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette's touch is fatal. As long as she doesn't hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don't fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war-- and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she's exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

In this electrifying debut, Tahereh Mafi presents a world as riveting as The Hunger Games and a superhero story as thrilling as The X-Men. Full of pulse-pounding romance, intoxicating villainy, and high-stakes choices, Shatter Me is a fresh and original dystopian novel—with a paranormal twist—that will leave readers anxiously awaiting its sequel.
